Doha, SONNA –The Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, His Excellency Ahmed Macalin Faqi, engaged in bilateral discussions with the foreign ministers of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Algeria.
During his meeting with Bahrain’s Foreign Minister, Mr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Minister Faqi emphasized the longstanding fraternal relations between Somalia and Bahrain. The talks focused on enhancing cooperation across various sectors and reaffirming their commitment to mutual support.
A key topic on the agenda was the situation in Gaza. The two ministers deliberated on strategies to facilitate a ceasefire, ensure the protection of civilians, and expedite the delivery of humanitarian aid. They also explored avenues to foster peace, security, and stability within the region, reflecting their shared vision for a harmonious international community.
Parallelly, Minister Faqi’s dialogue with Algeria’s Foreign Minister, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, revolved around bolstering the cooperative bonds between Somalia and Algeria. The discussions aimed at identifying new opportunities for collaboration and reinforcing the brotherly ties that have long united the two nations.
These diplomatic exchanges occurred alongside the 3rd session of the Arab and Central Asian Economic and Cooperation Forum, which also saw participation from the Republic of Azerbaijan. The forum serves as a platform for regional players to converge on economic and cooperative matters, furthering the interests of all member states.
