Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, today received at his office the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Somalia, H.E. Alper Aktaş, along with Gen. Sebahattin Kalkan, the head of TÜRKSOM.
The discussions centered around enhancing military collaboration between the two nations, specifically focusing on training for the Somali National Army, bolstering their defense capabilities, and fostering a strategic partnership.
Minister Fiqi expressed gratitude to the Ambassador and his delegation for Turkey’s steadfast and diverse support for the Somali people and government.
He further emphasized that the strong bilateral ties between Somalia and Turkey would serve to challenge those opposed to Somalia’s progress.
In closing, Minister Fiqi acknowledged all of Somalia’s international security partners for their invaluable assistance in the reconstruction of the National Armed Forces and the ongoing efforts against terrorism.
