Buurhakaba, (SONNA) – In a successful planned operation conducted in the Durduro area of Bay region, elite Danab forces of the Somali National Army have killed a senior Al-Shabaab operative identified as Ahmed Mohamed, known within the group as “Mas’ud.” His body was recovered and displayed by the military following the operation.
The militant, who was killed alongside his bodyguards, was a key figure in Al-Shabaab’s bomb-making unit, responsible for manufacturing and planting improvised explosive devices (IEDs) on public roads to target civilians and security forces.
The operation is part of ongoing nationwide offensives led by Somali National Army units in coordination with local community fighters, aimed at clearing terrorist elements from key regions and delivering a series of heavy blows to Al-Shabaab’s operational capabilities.
