Hiiraan, (SONNA) – Somali National Army (SNA) forces, in coordination with regional self-defense units, launched a heavy assault this morning targeting Al-Shabaab militants hiding in the remote border areas between Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle regions.
The joint forces advanced from the Ceel-Hareeri area in Hiiraan and struck a key gathering point of the militants, where fierce fighting is currently underway. Local officials confirmed the offensive to National Media.
In recent days, sustained military operations by national and local forces have killed numerous insurgents and liberated several strategic areas from Al-Shabaab control.
The ongoing operation forms part of a broader campaign to dismantle the terrorist group’s presence in central Somalia. Updates will follow via National Media.
