NISA Dismantles Terror Network, Arrests 11 Operatives in Intelligence-Led Operation

MOGADISHU, Somalia – The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has successfully dismantled a dangerous network of Al-Shabaab operatives, arresting 11 individuals accused of plotting acts of terror and espionage against the state and the public.

In a statement released today, security officials confirmed that the operation targeted a clandestine cell that had been active within the capital, Mogadishu, as well as the surrounding regions of Lower Shabelle and Middle Shabelle. The apprehended individuals were reportedly in the advanced stages of planning terror attacks and gathering intelligence to facilitate violence.

The arrests were the result of a sophisticated, intelligence-led effort. NISA agents, having gathered critical data on the group’s movements and intentions, executed a coordinated sweep to neutralize the threat. Officials noted that the operatives were tracked down and arrested individually, with several suspects caught red-handed while actively engaging in criminal activities related to terrorism.

The Federal Government of Somalia has intensified its crackdown on anti-peace elements, leveraging improved intelligence capabilities to disrupt plots before they can be carried out.

NISA has confirmed that all 11 suspects are currently in custody and undergoing interrogation. They will be transferred to the competent judicial authorities to face full legal prosecution for their alleged crimes against the nation.
