ALGIERS, Algeria – The Minister of Communications and Technology of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Mohamed Somali, represented the nation at the high-level African Startup Summit, which concluded today in Algiers.

The summit brought together continental leaders, policymakers, and innovators to discuss the future of technology in Africa. This year’s agenda focused heavily on supporting emerging startups, enhancing digital connectivity, fostering technological innovation, and building robust ICT infrastructure across the continent.

A key highlight of the event was the Ministerial Roundtable held today, where Ministers of Communications and Technology from various African nations convened to strategize on the continent’s digital trajectory.

During the session, Minister Mohamed Somali delivered a comprehensive address outlining Somalia’s perspective and contributions. He focused on several critical pillars necessary for digital transformation:

Digital Connectivity: Strategies to strengthen and expand digital networks across Africa to bridge the digital divide.

Cybersecurity: The implementation of rigorous digital security protocols and data protection measures to safeguard users and institutions.

Policy Frameworks: The creation of forward-looking policies designed to incentivize innovation and support the growth of ICT businesses.

Infrastructure: The development of essential infrastructure required to transition African nations toward a digital-based economy.

Minister Somali’s participation underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to integrating Somalia into the global digital economy and collaborating with African partners to solve shared technological challenges.
