Mogadishu (SONNA) – The Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Mr. Yusuf Hussein Jimale (Madaale), has officially opened the Social Consultation Forum on the Status of Mogadishu and the Rights of Banadir Region. The forum, which brings together traditional elders, scholars, youth, women, and leaders of Somali community organizations, aims to foster inclusive dialogue on the future of the capital.

In his opening remarks, the Deputy Commissioner of Security and Politics for Banadir Region, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Diriye (Yabooh), emphasized the administration’s commitment to engaging with various community segments. He highlighted the importance of consulting with the public in the selection process for Mogadishu’s leadership.

Participants from different community sectors expressed their appreciation for the Banadir Regional Government’s initiative to seek their input. They welcomed the opportunity to contribute to the selection of the most suitable candidates for the Mogadishu City Council.

Mayor Yusuf Hussein Jimale (Madaale) underscored that this forum marks the beginning of a new era in which the community of Banadir Region will secure their right to representation. He stressed that the forum’s outcomes will shape the future governance of Mogadishu.

The forum is part of a broader effort to discuss the electoral process for Mogadishu State and the rights of Banadir Region’s residents. Recommendations from the forum will be forwarded to various constitutional committees as the Somali Parliament prepares to debate amendments to chapters 5 through 9 of the Constitution.

This initiative reflects the Banadir Regional Government’s dedication to inclusive governance and community participation in shaping the future of Mogadishu.
