Federal Government Issues Strict Directive Against Funding Terrorists Under the Guise of Zakkawaat

MOGADISHU (SONNA) — The Federal Government of Somalia convened a high-level joint press briefing in Mogadishu to issue a definitive national security directive regarding charitable giving during the holy month of Ramadan. A coalition of top state officials addressed the nation to warn the public against extortion operations orchestrated by the Khawaarij, who are attempting to manipulate the sacred obligation of Zakat to fund their illicit activities.

The Deputy Minister of Information opened the national address, detailing the strategic success the administration has achieved in dismantling the terrorist network’s financial infrastructure. He revealed that the militant group is currently facing a severe operational cash shortage due to relentless, state-led financial warfare. In a desperate bid to replenish their depleted resources, the extremists are weaponizing the holy month to extract capital from the Somali people.

Setting the stage for the broader ministerial coalition—which included the Ministries of Justice, Internal Security, Commerce, and Religious Affairs—the Deputy Minister dismantled the group’s ideological facade. He stated unequivocally that Al-Shabaab holds zero religious legitimacy and fundamentally violates the core tenets of Islam.

The government issued a clear legal and moral boundary for the public: transferring any funds to the Kharijites is a severe criminal offense under federal law and a direct violation of Islamic ethics. The Deputy Minister urged all citizens, corporate entities, and diaspora members to remain highly vigilant. The public was instructed to route all Zakat and Sadaqah through verified, legitimate charitable organizations or directly to vulnerable community members, ensuring that the financial pipelines of the enemy remain permanently severed.
