Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, today attended the closing ceremony of the workshop “The Study of the Status and Future of the Arabic Language in Somalia,” held in Mogadishu under the auspices of the Arab League Mission and led by Mr. Zaid Al-Subban.

The Minister underlined that Arabic is a core element of Somalia’s cultural and religious identity and a vital bridge connecting the country with the Arab and Islamic world, stressing that strengthening its role is both a strategic and cultural priority.

Minister Fiqi highlighted the Ministry of Defence’s commitment to incorporating Arabic into its training and educational programmes, modernising military curricula, and deepening cooperation with Arab countries in training and capacity-building.

The Minister thanked the Arab League for its sustained support to Somalia and reaffirmed Somalia’s determination to implement the workshop’s recommendations through practical programmes that strengthen national development and reinforce the country’s collective identity.
