Mogadishu (SONNA) – The Somali National Army (SNA), particularly the elite Gorgor Commandos, carried out a planned military operation in areas under Warciise in the Middle Shabelle region, targeting Al-Shabaab militants.
The operation, part of ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorist groups, focused on militants who were hiding in the targeted areas. Security forces aimed to dismantle their presence and disrupt their activities in the region.
Commander of the 195th Battalion, 19th Brigade, Major Mohamed Omar Dufaan, told military media that the objective of the operation was to pursue and weaken Al-Shabaab elements, which he said continue to pose a threat to civilians in the region.
The Somali government has intensified its military campaigns in recent months as part of a broader strategy to restore security and stability across the country.
