Mogadishu(SONNA)-The Federal Government of Somalia has issued a statement addressing rising tensions in South West State, expressing concern over emerging political and security challenges in parts of the region.
The government commended the people and administration of South West for their role in safeguarding national unity and contributing to constitutional review and democratization efforts in Somalia.
The statement also strongly condemned a decision by South West authorities to suspend cooperation with the federal government, affirming that federal institutions will continue fulfilling their constitutional responsibilities in the region.
The Federal Government called on the South West administration to remain engaged in reconciliation and democratic processes, and urged community leaders, elders, and politicians to avoid actions that could threaten peace, security, and stability.
