Mogadishu (SONNA) – The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), in coordination with international partners, carried out a planned operation in the Tardo area of Hiiraan region, killing five Al-Shabaab militants and destroying bases and equipment used by the group for terrorist activities.
According to NISA, the operation followed intelligence reports confirming that around 25 militants, including fighters and senior operatives, had gathered in the area to coordinate activities aimed at destabilizing security and disrupting civilian life in Hiiraan region.
Security forces specifically targeted hideouts used by the militants, inflicting significant losses that disrupted the group’s movements and operational planning in the area. The operation also destroyed facilities and logistical equipment used for transporting and managing the militants.
NISA said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to pursue and dismantle Al-Shabaab networks, bases, and operational capabilities across Somalia.
