Mogadishu, SONNA — Voter registration in Matabaan district of the Hiran region officially began today, with officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) overseeing the process.
According to the commission, the registration process started smoothly as residents began enrolling to obtain their voter registration certificates, a key requirement for participation in upcoming elections.
In a brief press release, the commission called on residents of the district to take part in the exercise and ensure they obtain their official voter documentation.
Voter registration is underway in Matabaan district of Hiran region. Please, citizens, if you live in Matabaan district, register and collect your voter registration certificate to receive your official voting card on election day,” the NEC said in a statement.
The voter registration process is an essential step in enabling citizens to participate in future elections in accordance with the country’s electoral law. The exercise is part of broader national efforts to strengthen democratic participation and ensure credible electoral processes.
Authorities have encouraged residents to visit designated registration centers across the district and verify that their personal information is accurate before the registration period concludes.
