Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Somali National Army (SNA), in coordination with local Macawiisley community forces, on Tuesday evening killed four militants affiliated with Al-Shabaab, following a planned security operation in the Hiiraan region.
According to security sources, the forces ambushed the militants and set ablaze the vehicle they were using after intercepting them while they were en route to carry out attacks and road ambushes targeting civilian vehicles.
The operation was carried out as planned in the area between Yasooman and Moqokori, both located in the Hiiraan region. The action followed intelligence reports indicating the movement of the militants, whose activities had been under close surveillance prior to the operation.
Security officials said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle militant networks and enhance the safety of civilians traveling through key routes in the region.
