Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Banadir Regional Police Command has banned armed security personnel from using Fekonta motorcycles and prohibited armed soldiers who are off duty from appearing in public within the capital, Mogadishu.
The move comes as part of heightened security measures introduced in recent hours to strengthen safety in the city, following the circulation of videos on social media showing armed individuals carrying out robbery attacks against civilians.
In a statement, the police confirmed the arrest of a suspect identified as D/le Liiban Mustaf Aadan, who is accused of committing a series of robberies across several districts of Mogadishu. The suspect is currently in police custody and will be transferred to a competent court to face justice in accordance with the law.
“Armed soldiers who are not on duty are not permitted to be seen within the capital. Any security personnel found violating the directives of the security institutions will face strict legal action,” the police statement said.
Security in Mogadishu is reported to be gradually improving, as various security forces intensify efforts to maintain stability and protect civilians across the capital.
