MOGADISHU (SONNA) – The Special Envoy of the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia for Stabilization and Civilian Protection, Hon. Omar Hashi, held a productive meeting today with Ambassador El-Hadji Ibrahima Diene, the African Union (AU) Special Representative and Head of AUSSOM.

The high-level discussion centered on the critical next steps for securing peace and governance in the nation. The officials conducted a detailed analysis of the stabilization situation in recently liberated areas and reviewed the progress of the National Plan for Civilian Protection, which is now reportedly in its final stages.

A key focus of the meeting was the strengthening of cooperation between the Federal Government of Somalia and AUSSOM. Both leaders discussed strategies to further solidify ongoing efforts to establish lasting peace and sustainable security across the country, ensuring that military gains are followed by robust civilian governance structures.

Ambassador Diene affirmed the African Union’s commitment to Somalia’s recovery. He stated that AUSSOM will continue its comprehensive support for the government’s stabilization plan, the protection of civilians, and the vital reconstruction of liberated territories.

The meeting underscores the close partnership between the Somali government and the African Union in managing the complex transition to full Somali security ownership and building a resilient, peaceful state.
