The Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation of the Federal Democratic Republic of Somalia, H.E. Mohamed Abdi Hayir (Mareye), on Wednesday received a high-level delegation led by Major General Amjad Al Awadi, Head of the State Fund for Martyrs of Iraq. The delegation also included several Iraqi businessmen and investors.
During the meeting, Minister Mareye briefed the visiting delegation on Somalia’s vast natural resources and diverse investment potential, particularly in agriculture. He highlighted that Somalia is endowed with fertile lands, rich marine resources, rivers, and abundant livestock.
The Minister encouraged Iraqi investors to seize the promising opportunities in Somalia’s agricultural sector, emphasizing the long-standing historical and brotherly ties between the two nations.
Somalia exports high-quality sesame and lemons and stands ready to enhance cooperation with Iraqi partners in agricultural investment,” said Minister Mareye.
The visiting Iraqi businessmen expressed their keen interest in exploring investment prospects in Somalia, noting that their visit aims to assess potential areas of collaboration, especially within the agricultural industry.
