Mogadishu, Somalia – The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) recently hosted a performance exhibition in Mogadishu, a major event that brought together ministries and government agencies to showcase their achievements over the past three years. The exhibition was attended by the nation’s top leaders, including President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, and Deputy Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Jama, emphasizing the significance of the event in the country’s ongoing national recovery and development.

The presence of the three leaders, who were seen closely inspecting various ministerial displays, served as a powerful endorsement of the government’s coordinated approach to governance. It affirmed a period of significant progress in sectors ranging from national security and economic development to social services and infrastructure.

The Ministry of Public Works, Reconstruction, and Housing, led by Minister Ilmi Mohamud Nur, announced a project that has constructed major roads in six Somali cities, a move aimed at enhancing connectivity and urban infrastructure.

In the agricultural sector, the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation presented its efforts to boost food security and support farmers. Among its key achievements, the Ministry highlighted a project that has developed the agricultural sector and improved farmers’ livelihoods, in partnership with organizations like Qatar Charity. These efforts included the distribution of essential equipment, such as motorcycles for transport and grain processing machines, to empower farmers and modernize farming practices.

The Ministry of Livestock, Forestry and Range also presented its achievements, including a project to improve livestock health that has successfully treated two million animals. The Minister announced the accomplishments from the past year.

The Ministry of Internal Security showcased its progress in the ongoing fight against extremist groups, and its role in the liberation of key territories. The ministry also played a significant part in the lifting of the arms embargo and Somalia’s admission into the East African Community (EAC).

The Ministry of Finance reported a significant increase in domestic revenue, which has more than quadrupled since 2013. The Ministry credited this success to administrative reforms aimed at curbing corruption, improving tax collection, and increasing transparency.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change presented a new five-year strategic plan and highlighted the successful implementation of a nationwide ban on single-use plastic bags. The ministry has also initiated the “Somalia Green” initiative, a presidential project aimed at planting 10 million trees across the country.

The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources reported on its efforts to provide reliable and accessible services. Among its key achievements, the ministry has operationalized the National Electricity Act and has rehabilitated 16 boreholes in newly liberated areas of the country.

The Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development, which is responsible for ensuring the implementation of the National Transformation Plan (NTP), conducted a performance review of 28 government entities. The review found that 42% of the planned activities for the period have been completed, with 28% still in progress.

In addition to the specific ministry achievements, the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism highlighted its broader role in improving government communication, promoting Somalia’s rich cultural heritage, and attracting tourists to the country.

The exhibition provided a comprehensive overview of the FGS’s progress in key sectors and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continued development and nation-building.
