Djibouti, (SONNA) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, held a productive meeting this morning at the Presidential Palace in Djibouti with the President of the Republic of Djibouti, H.E. Ismaïl Omar Guelleh.
The two leaders discussed strengthening the strategic ties between their nations, with a focus on deepening cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including security, the fight against Al-Shabaab, and Djibouti’s continued support for Somalia’s state-building and stabilization efforts.
Humanitarian issues were also high on the agenda, particularly the drought-induced crisis affecting parts of Somalia, including the Awdal region. President Hassan Sheikh appealed for Djibouti’s support in delivering timely assistance to communities impacted by the drought.
The leaders exchanged views on the broader situation in the Horn of Africa, reaffirming the importance of close collaboration and consistent dialogue to address regional challenges.
Both presidents underscored that Somalia’s stability, unity, and development are central to lasting peace and prosperity in the region.
