Mogadishu, (SONNA) —The Federal Republic of Somalia has extended its warm congratulations to the Government and people of the Republic of South Africa on the occasion of Freedom Day, commemorating 31 years of democracy, unity, and national renewal.
In a statement issued by H.E. Amb. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi Ahmed, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Somalia praised the enduring friendship and historic solidarity between the two nations.
“The Federal Republic of Somalia takes great pride in having stood with the people of South Africa during their long and historic struggle to overcome the apartheid regime,” said Minister Fiqi. “This shared commitment to justice and freedom has laid the foundation for the strong and lasting ties between our countries, reinforcing our mutual dedication to the principles of human dignity, equality, and solidarity.”
- The Minister further emphasized Somalia’s appreciation for the historic ties and mutual respect cultivated over the decades. He expressed Somalia’s eagerness to continue strengthening bonds of friendship and cooperation with South Africa, working together for the lasting benefit of their peoples and the advancement of broader shared aspirations.
