Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Minister of Youth and Sports of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Mohamed Abdulkadir Ali, today welcomed the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Country Representative, Dr. Mary Otieno, to the Ministry’s headquarters in Mogadishu.
The meeting, which served as an introductory engagement, focused on strengthening the longstanding partnership between the Ministry and UNFPA, particularly in areas related to youth skills development and empowerment.
Minister Mohamed Abdulkadir expressed gratitude to UNFPA for its continued support, emphasizing the government’s commitment to deepening cooperation and expanding youth-focused initiatives. He urged the agency to further scale up its programs to meet the growing needs of Somali youth.
Dr. Mary Otieno commended the minister’s dedication to youth advancement, reaffirming UNFPA’s pledge to continue its support. She welcomed the Ministry’s openness to collaboration and praised its efforts to elevate youth voices and opportunities.
The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding to accelerate joint projects aimed at empowering Somali youth and promoting sustainable development.
