ANKARA, TÜRKİYE (SONNA) — The Minister of Public Works, Reconstruction, and Housing of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. MP Ayub Ismail Yusuf, held a strategic bilateral meeting today in Ankara with the Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, H.E. Abdulkadir Uraloglu.
The high-level assembly, convened at the headquarters of the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, brought together senior technicians, engineers, and policy advisors from both sovereign nations. The bilateral negotiations focused entirely on deepening structural cooperation, accelerating national economic infrastructure development, expanding modern housing initiatives, and instituting advanced urban planning and construction quality control frameworks in Somalia.
Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu warmly welcomed the high-level Somali delegation, reaffirming Ankara’s unwavering, long-term commitment to anchoring Somalia’s reconstruction and developmental agenda. In response, Minister Ayub Ismail Yusuf highlighted the critical value of leveraging Türkiye’s advanced engineering methodologies, institutional technical knowledge, and extensive experience in managing mega-projects. Minister Yusuf specifically outlined a framework to institutionalize specialized training programs for Somali engineers and public works personnel, ensuring localized capacity to spearhead the nation’s unfolding infrastructure boom.
Following the executive session, Minister Ayub Ismail Yusuf conducted an extensive operational tour of critical state facilities managed by the Turkish government. He was formally received by the Director General of the Turkish State Highways Authority, who delivered a comprehensive operational briefing on managing large-scale national road corridors.
A vital component of the tour included an on-site inspection of major highway networks executed through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model—where private consortia finance, build, and maintain public roads, recouping capital via automated, electronic toll collection systems. Minister Yusuf also inspected the central state vehicle maintenance and fleet management facilities to study modern logistical and asset lifecycle protocols.
To ensure rapid execution of these strategic initiatives, the two ministers finalized a binding agreement to immediately establish a Joint Technical Committee. This bilateral body will be mandated to streamline inter-ministerial communication, oversee technology transfers, and fast-track upcoming joint infrastructure and urban housing projects across Somalia.
