Baidoa, SONNA – The President of South West State, His Excellency Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed “Laftagareen,” visited frontline units of the Somali National Army (SNA) and the South West Dervish Army today, following a decisive military operation against Al-Shabaab militants.
The troops conducted a successful offensive earlier yesterday, killing more than 35 Khawarij (Al-Shabaab) fighters, including a foreign commander, and wounding over 60 militants. The bodies of the slain insurgents were displayed in Baidoa as a demonstration of the security forces’ progress in the ongoing counterterrorism campaign.
President Laftagareen commended the bravery of the soldiers and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to eradicating extremism and restoring stability in the region.
“This victory is a prove to the courage of our forces and the resilience of our people,” said the President. “We will continue to support our troops until every inch of South West State is liberated from the Khawarij menace.”
The operation marks another significant blow to Al-Shabaab’s operations in the region as Somali forces, backed by local forces and international partners, intensify efforts to dismantle the militant group’s strongholds.
