MOGADISHU, (SONNA) – The newly appointed Commander of the Somali National Army’s Presidential Guard Unit, Colonel Maslax Mahmoud Mohamed, officially took over command from his predecessor, Brigadier General Hassan Aden Dhicis, during a formal handover ceremony held at the unit’s headquarters in the Presidential Palace.
In his inaugural remarks, Col. Maslax outlined his priorities, including enhancing the operational effectiveness of the Presidential Guard and strengthening the security of the Presidency and senior government officials. He also thanked the outgoing commander for his dedication and leadership during his tenure.
Brig. Gen. Hassan Aden Dhicis called on officers and personnel to extend their full support to the new commander, praising Col. Maslax for his commitment and service, particularly in his previous role as Head of the President’s Close Protection Unit.
Col. Maslax brings over 14 years of experience in the Somali Armed Forces, having held several key positions, most notably as the Chief of the President’s personal security in recent years.
The handover ceremony was attended by Deputy Director General of the Presidency, Mr. Mohamed Amin Sheikh Osman, and members of the Somali National Army’s transition committee.
