Rome, (SONNA) – The Somali Deputy Ambassador to Italy, Dr. Khalid Macow, and Consul Ahmed Suudaani attended a graduation ceremony for Somali students at Sapienza Università di Roma, one of Italy’s oldest and most prestigious universities. Among the graduates were two students who earned their Master’s degrees in economics after securing scholarships through an initiative by the Italian government aimed at supporting Somali youth in pursuing higher education.

Currently, more than five Somali students are studying at Sapienza University, with others pursuing Master’s degrees at various universities across Italy. These students represent a growing number of young Somalis committed to enhancing their knowledge and skills, with hopes of contributing to Somalia’s development and nation-building efforts.

Somalia’s Ambassador to Italy, Eng. Ibrahim Sheegow, also congratulated the graduates, encouraging them to apply their knowledge to support their homeland’s progress. He emphasized the importance of using the education they’ve gained to help build a brighter future for Somalia, a nation eager for sustainable development.

This milestone highlights the strengthening academic ties between Somalia and Italy, offering Somali students valuable opportunities to advance their education and bring meaningful change to their communities.
