Mogadishu, SONNA – The Commander of the Somali Police Force, Brigadier General Asad Osman Abdullahi, chaired a high-level meeting on strengthening national security and intensifying efforts to counter insurgent groups. The meeting, held on a weekly basis, brought together heads of leadership, departments, and independent committees within the Somali Police Force.

During the meeting, Brigadier General Abdullahi emphasized the police force’s readiness to support and implement one-person, one-vote elections, a critical step toward democratic governance in Somalia. He also directed officers to remain vigilant against the schemes of insurgent groups, which continue to pose a threat to the safety and stability of the Somali people.

“We are committed to ensuring the security of our nation and its citizens,” said Brigadier General Abdullahi. “Our officers are prepared to thwart any plots by insurgents that aim to harm the Somali people and disrupt our progress.”

The Police Chief further called on the public to actively collaborate with security agencies by reporting individuals or groups involved in activities that undermine national security. “The fight against insecurity is a collective responsibility. We urge all citizens to report any suspicious activities to the relevant authorities,” he added.

The meeting reflects the Somali Police Force’s ongoing efforts to enhance security measures, particularly in the lead-up to the planned one-person, one-vote elections. This initiative is seen as a pivotal moment in Somalia’s democratic journey, and the police force’s role in ensuring a safe and secure environment is crucial.
