Minister Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi Leads Efforts to Strengthen Collaboration on Family Welfare and Human Rights

Nairobi, SONNA — Somalia’s Minister of Family and Human Rights Development, H.E. Amb. Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi, co-chaired a high-level meeting with Canadian Ambassador Christopher Thornley and international donors to discuss enhancing collaboration and advancing Somalia’s priorities in family welfare and human rights.

During the meeting, Minister Al-Makhzoumi outlined key priorities for her Ministry, emphasizing the need for coordinated support to address critical issues. “Today, I co-chaired a high-level meeting with Canadian Ambassador Christopher Thornley and international donors to strengthen collaboration on Somalia’s human rights and family welfare agenda. I shared the Ministry’s priorities and welcomed the commitment from partners to support our efforts,” she stated.

The donors expressed their appreciation for Minister Al-Makhzoumi’s leadership and reaffirmed their commitment to backing the Ministry’s mission to promote human rights and improve family welfare.

Later, the Minister chaired a technical session with representatives from Federal Member States in Nairobi. The session focused on aligning national priorities and establishing clear frameworks for collaboration with international partners. Minister Al-Makhzoumi emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships that drive tangible results in advancing human rights and family welfare across Somalia.

These engagements reflect Somalia’s commitment to fostering strong partnerships with local and international stakeholders to advance its development agenda. The Ministry of Family and Human Rights Development remains dedicated to safeguarding the rights of all Somali citizens and improving their quality of life through collaborative efforts.
