Bujumbura, SONNA — Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Isaak Mohamud Mursal, led a Somali delegation at the 19th Meeting of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Committee on Peace and Security, held in Bujumbura, Burundi.
This high-level meeting brought together representatives from all COMESA member states to address key peace and security issues affecting the region. Somalia’s transition process, which has been ongoing since June 2022, was a focal point of discussion, with Somalia sharing both its progress and challenges.
The session offered an invaluable opportunity for Somalia to highlight its commitment to fostering stability, strengthening governance, and advancing security within its borders.
Somalia also sought to further engage with regional partners for ongoing support and collaboration.
