MOGADISHU (SONNA) — The Federal Republic of Somalia is actively escalating its diplomatic operations with major global economies. On April 16, 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, officially received the diplomatic credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of India to Somalia, Dr. Adarsh Swaika, during a high-level executive meeting at the Ministry headquarters in Mogadishu.

Operating from his regional base in Nairobi, Kenya, Ambassador Swaika’s accreditation initiates a renewed phase of bilateral integration between Mogadishu and New Delhi. During the closed-door consultative summit, the two delegations executed a comprehensive review of the long-standing historical relationship existing between the two nations. The executive dialogue prioritized transitioning these historical alliances into a modernized, highly active economic partnership.

Minister Abdisalam and Ambassador Swaika established a clear operational consensus on the absolute necessity of converting diplomatic goodwill into tangible, high-impact developmental projects. Both delegations are aggressively targeting coordination across commercial, technical, and infrastructural sectors to generate immediate, measurable benefits for the citizens of both republics. This shift toward practical project execution aligns perfectly with the Federal Government’s broader strategy to attract foreign direct investment and leverage international expertise for massive domestic expansion.

Concluding the credential ceremony, Minister Abdisalam formally welcomed the Indian envoy to his new diplomatic post. The Minister guaranteed the absolute cooperation of the Federal Government in facilitating the Ambassador’s mandate, ensuring a highly effective tenure that will firmly elevate the geopolitical and economic coordination between Somalia and India.
