Somalia’s Diplomatic Institute Highlights Ethiopian Expansionist Policies

In a significant lecture organized by the Federal Government of Somalia’s Institute of Diplomacy, Dr. Hassan Mohamed-nur Ahmadey, a historian, addressed the contentious issue of Ethiopia’s territorial ambitions and its involvement in Somalia. The event, titled “The Reasons for Ethiopia’s Desire to Expand Land and Its Intervention in Somalia,” was held yesterday and saw the attendance of notable figures including the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Ahmed Macallin Fiqi, and the Minister of State, Mr. Ali Mohamed Omar.

Dr. Ahmadey’s lecture shed light on Ethiopia’s historical attempts to manipulate the narrative of the Horn of Africa’s history, with the aim of undermining Somalia’s central government. He emphasized that the unification and solidarity of Somalia are key to thwarting Ethiopia’s aggressive tactics.

The Ministers, in their speeches, echoed Dr. Ahmadey’s sentiments, calling for a collective effort to leverage the intellectual and physical capabilities of the Somali people. They advocated for a united front to counteract Ethiopia’s expansionist policies, which they described as driven by an irrational desire for land.

This lecture marks a critical moment in Somalia’s diplomatic efforts to address regional tensions and assert its stance on national sovereignty.
