Mogadishu(SONNA)-Somalia’s security forces on Sunday afternoon ended Al-Shabaab militants’ siege on Mogadishu municipality and headquarter of Benadir Regional Administration in Hamar-weyne district.
The forces killed six terrorist fighters who reached the area while making themselves look like the national army and came there on foot. The forces rescued some local government officials and civilians during the operation successfully.
Five civilians are confirmed dead and four others sustained injuries in the attack at Mogadishu municipality in Hamar-weyne district according to a statement from the Ministry of Information of Somalia.
The Government extended its condolences to the families of the civilians who lost their lives and wished the wounded victims for quick recovery.
“These senseless acts of the Khawaarij show the Government and the Somali people that it is necessary to completely eliminate the Khawaarij from Somali territory, as the country is currently engaged in a war to defeat the Khawaarij group”, said the statement.
