Mogadishu SONNA — The National Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission of Somalia has intensified its voter registration drive in Hobyo District, with Galbarwaqo town among the latest areas where the process is now actively underway.
Residents, alongside local administration officials, lined up early this morning in Galbarwaqo, Mudug Region, to register as voters in preparation for Somalia’s upcoming one-person, one-vote elections, reflecting growing public participation in the democratic process.
The Commission’s expanded operations in the district are part of a broader nationwide effort to accelerate voter registration and ensure inclusive participation, particularly in areas where the process is being scaled up.
Officials noted that the ongoing registration exercise is progressing steadily, with increased mobilization aimed at reaching eligible voters across Hobyo District and strengthening the credibility of the electoral process.
The Federal Government continues to prioritize electoral reforms, with voter registration serving as a critical step toward the successful implementation of a transparent and inclusive one-person, one-vote system.
