Mogadishu, SONNA – The Chairperson of the National Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, Mr. Abdikarin Ahmed Hassan, announced that voter registration in Banadir region has officially resumed and will run from September 9 to September 30, 2025.
He explained that the decision was made to give supporters of newly established political organizations an opportunity to register, emphasizing that it marks another step toward broadening democratic participation.
The Chairperson expressed satisfaction that citizens who contributed to the country’s progress now have the chance to take part in elections, noting that the efforts made over the years have enabled Somalia to reach this stage.
Former Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali was among those who registered on the opening day.
