Mogadishu, (SONNA): The Supreme Court of the Armed Forces has delivered its final verdicts in the case involving the former commander of the Heliwa station, Abdifatah Mohamed Hassan Qosaye, and his associates. The group was implicated in the murder of Abukar Ahmed Kaabah, which occurred on February 22, 2024.

The court handed down death sentences to ex-captain Abdifatah Mohamed Hassan Qosaye and ex-soldier Mohamed Abdi Mohamed Qone for their roles in the killing of Kaabah. Liban Mohamed Ahmed, who remains at large, was sentenced to life imprisonment in absentia.

Additionally, the court sentenced Mohamed Adawe Ali, Yasin Abdi Jama, and Hassan Mohamed Saeed, also known as Dhin-Dhin, to ten years in military prison each for their involvement in the crime.

These rulings follow an earlier set of verdicts issued by the Court of First Instance on April 6, 2024, which the defendants subsequently appealed. The Supreme Court’s decisions mark the culmination of a high-profile case that has drawn significant public attention.

The court’s rulings prove the commitment of the Somali judicial system to uphold justice and accountability, particularly in cases involving serious crimes such as murder.
