Mogadishu, SONNA — The State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Ali Mohamed Omar, today received a delegation from the United Nations Transition Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS), led by Officer-in-Charge Raisedon Zenenga, accompanied by Vikram Parekh.
The discussions focused on the ongoing UNTMIS transition and the evolving political and security landscape in Somalia, with both sides exchanging views on the next phase of engagement.
During the meeting, the State Minister emphasized Somalia’s firm commitment to a Somali-led transition, underscoring the importance of strengthening national institutions and consolidating gains achieved in peacebuilding and state-building.
He noted that aligning international support with Somalia’s national priorities remains essential to ensuring sustainable progress and long-term stability.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhanced coordination and sustained engagement, emphasizing the need for continued collaboration to support Somalia’s development trajectory and reinforce peace and stability across the country.
