MOGADISHU (SONNA) – The Minister of Ports and Marine Transport of the Federal Government of Somalia, Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, presided over the official signing of a cooperation agreement between the Ministry and the European Union Capacity Building Mission in Somalia (EUCAP Somalia).
The agreement was formally signed by the Director General of the Ministry of Ports and Marine Transport, Ahmed Yusuf Abdulle, and the Head of EUCAP Somalia. The ceremony was also attended by the Director of the Port of Mogadishu, Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nur (Americo), and the European Union Ambassador to Somalia, Francesca Di Mauro.
This cooperation agreement is centered on the European Union providing support for the equipping of the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC), a vital facility for coordinating rescue efforts for victims at sea. This project forms part of the broader initiatives aimed at enhancing the development and functionality of the Port of Mogadishu.
Minister Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur highlighted the Federal Government’s commitment to improving the quality and productivity of all the country’s ports, showing the strategic importance of this agreement for Somalia’s maritime sector.
