Somali Delegation Participates in IATA Aviation Conference in Kenya, Seeks Stronger Regional Ties

Nairobi, Kenya – A high-level delegation from the Federal Government of Somalia recently attended a significant conference organized by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in Nairobi, Kenya. The delegation was led by the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, His Excellency Mohamed Farah Nuuh, and included the Director General of the Somali Civil Aviation Authority, Mr. Aahmed Ma’alin Hassan.

The IATA conference focused on critical aspects of civil aviation development, including infrastructure advancements and the harmonization of aviation policies to align with international best practices. The event brought together prominent figures in the global civil aviation sector, including leaders from airlines and airport authorities.

During the conference, the Somali delegation engaged in discussions with various leaders and stakeholders. They also held a productive bilateral meeting with Kenya’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Mr. Davis Chirchir. The meeting centered on strengthening regional cooperation in civil aviation and exploring avenues to improve transport connectivity between the neighboring nations of Somalia and Kenya.

Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation for Somalia, Mohamed Farah Nuuh, reaffirmed Somalia’s strong commitment to the development of its civil aviation sector. He emphasized the government’s dedication to ensuring and upholding international civil aviation regulations, as well as recognizing the crucial role of air transport in fostering economic growth.

The participation of the Somali delegation in this prominent international conference reflects the nation’s active engagement in the global aviation community and its commitment to building a robust and compliant civil aviation infrastructure. The discussions held are expected to contribute to enhanced regional collaboration and advancements in Somalia’s air transport sector.
