Mogadishu (SONNA): The Cabinet of Ministers of the Federal Republic of Somalia, under the leadership of Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre, convened to approve crucial appointments and policies aimed at bolstering the nation’s diplomatic and developmental efforts.

New Ambassadorial Appointments

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations proposed the appointment of two new ambassadors, which received the Cabinet’s approval. The newly appointed ambassadors are:

  1. Mr. Abdihakin Mohamed Ahmed (Dhobo-Dareed)
  2. Mr. Yusuf Ahmed Jego

These appointments are expected to enhance Somalia’s representation and diplomatic engagements on the global stage.

National Procedure Policy for Human Rights

The Cabinet also approved the National Procedure Policy for the reporting and monitoring of human rights. This policy underscores the government’s commitment to the protection and advancement of human rights in Somalia. It aims to enhance transparency and accountability in monitoring the human rights situation across the country.

Acceleration of the National Transformation Plan (NTP)

A detailed report on the acceleration of the National Transformation Plan (NTP) was presented to the Cabinet. The NTP is a strategic framework designed to support the development of the state system and the national economy. It emphasizes the coordination of government agencies to ensure efficient implementation and alignment of national policies with the country’s development goals.

Experts in planning and government administration outlined the best practices for implementing the NTP, focusing on economic growth, improved social services, and strengthened governance to achieve sustainable development.

Security Briefings

The Ministries of Internal Security and Defense provided updates on the security situation, highlighting ongoing efforts to stabilize the country and combat Khawarij groups. The reports detailed plans to enhance security measures and eliminate terrorist threats, ensuring a safer environment for all citizens.

This meeting marks a pivotal step in Somalia’s journey towards stability, development, and international cooperation. The approved policies and appointments reflect the government’s dedication to fostering a secure, prosperous, and rights-respecting nation.
