The Somali National Disaster Management Authority (SoDMA) has donated medicine to Janale Regional Hospital in the Lower Shabelle region, where thousands of people have been affected by the El Niño floods and the river floods.

The medicine was handed over by the chairman of the Janale administration, who expressed his gratitude to SoDMA for their support and assistance. He said that the medicine would help the local hospital treat the patients who have suffered from various diseases and injuries caused by the floods.

The director of the hospital also thanked SoDMA and said that the medicine was urgently needed, as the hospital was facing a shortage of supplies and resources. He said that the hospital was doing its best to provide quality health care to the flood victims, despite the challenges and difficulties.

The El Niño floods and the river floods have displaced more than 300,000 people in the Lower Shabelle region, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). The floods have also destroyed crops, livestock, infrastructure, and livelihoods, leaving many people in need of food, water, shelter, and health care.

SoDMA is the national agency responsible for coordinating and managing disaster response and preparedness in Somalia. It works with various partners and stakeholders, including the federal government, regional administrations, local authorities, humanitarian agencies, and civil society organizations, to provide relief and recovery to the affected communities.
