Mogadishu (SONNA) – Professor Saalim Aliyow Ibrow has officially assumed his duties as the new Minister of Labor and Social Affairs for the Federal Government of Somalia. The transition was marked by a formal handover ceremony in Mogadishu, where he took over the ministry’s portfolio from the former minister, Member of Parliament (MP) Yusuf Mohamed Aadan.
The event, held at the ministry’s headquarters and attended by senior staff, parliamentarians, and other dignitaries, finalized the transfer of responsibilities.
In his inaugural remarks, the incoming Minister, Prof. Ibrow, outlined his core commitment to his new role, vowing to dedicate his full efforts to serving the nation with integrity and effectiveness.

The former minister, MP Yusuf Mohamed Aadan, reflected on his tenure and the progress achieved under his leadership. He specifically pointed to the ministry’s successes in addressing one of the nation’s most pressing challenges: youth unemployment.
“During my time leading the Ministry of Labor, I achieved the creation of many jobs for the youth,” MP Aadan remarked, highlighting the significant foundation of programs and policies the new minister will now build upon.
The ceremony concluded with the formal transfer of official ministry documents, as MP Aadan wished his successor success in advancing the nation’s labor and social welfare agenda.
