Mogadishu, SONNA — Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, attended the graduation ceremony of scholars who completed their Master’s and PhD degrees at the University for Peace (UPEACE), celebrating the achievements of Somali students advancing higher education in the country.

During the ceremony, Prime Minister Hamsa congratulated the graduates for their dedication and hard work, highlighting the importance of their knowledge in building state institutions, promoting peace, and supporting sustainable development in Somalia.

Today is a great day that shows the progress of higher education in the country. To see Somali students receiving PhD and Master degrees in their own country is a success for the nation. The scholars who graduated today are the ones who would lead the change and innovation that we need in our country,” Prime Minister Hamza said.

He commended the leadership of the University for Peace (UPEACE) for improving the quality of higher education in Somalia and emphasized that the government prioritizes education as a key tool to overcome challenges to stability and social development.

As a government, we see education as a means to improve life. Therefore, the National Transformation Plan (NTP2025–2029) is centered on the development of human potential. We believe that society should be educated. The country’s universities are a major part of the country’s development,” he added.

The Prime Minister encouraged the graduates to use their knowledge to serve the Somali people and contribute to national development, emphasizing their role in stabilizing the country and rebuilding effective governance systems.
