Mogadishu, SONNA – The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, His Excellency Hamsa Abdi Barre, has expressed profound sorrow and condolences following the tragic passing of Dr. Mahamuud Yussuf Hassan, who died last night in Mogadishu. Dr. Hassan was a revered figure in Somalia’s medical community and had served as the Director of Medina Hospital for many years.

In a heartfelt statement, Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre said, “Inna-lillahi wa inna ileyhi Raji’un (To Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return). I extend my deepest condolences to the entire Somali nation, particularly to the family, relatives, and the health community. May Allah have mercy on Dr. Mahamuud Yussuf Hassan, who dedicated his life to serving the Somali people.”

Dr. Hassan was widely recognized for his commitment to providing medical assistance to those affected by the numerous disasters that have struck Somalia over the years. The Prime Minister highlighted his contributions, stating, “The deceased dedicated his time to serving the Somali community, as he was a pioneer in providing medical aid to those affected by the various crises in our country.”

Prime Minister Hamsa also prayed for the deceased, asking Allah to grant him Janatul Firdowsa (the highest level of Paradise) and to provide patience and strength to his family, relatives, and the Somali nation during this difficult time.

Dr. Mahamuud Yussuf Hassan was not only a medical professional but also a mentor and educator who played a pivotal role in shaping the future of Somalia’s healthcare sector. He was instrumental in training and producing countless Somali students, equipping them with extensive knowledge and skills in the field of health.

His passing marks a significant loss for Somalia, as he leaves behind a legacy of service, compassion, and dedication to the well-being of his fellow citizens. The Somali nation mourns the loss of a true hero whose contributions to healthcare and education will be remembered for generations to come.
