Mogadishu, SONNA — The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, has attended a ceremony honoring participants of the “Daaci 2026” program, an initiative aimed at empowering youth to promote positive values, religious awareness, and social responsibility across Somali society.

The program, held under the theme “Somali Telling Her Story,” brought together young participants recognized for their contributions to community awareness and the promotion of good morals. The Prime Minister congratulated all participants, commending their dedication to fostering a culture of integrity and social cohesion.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Hamza emphasized the importance of purposeful work in both worldly success and spiritual fulfillment, noting that individuals across all sectors—including business leaders, journalists, politicians, and scholars—have a shared responsibility in building a just and ethical society.

He also addressed key national challenges, including tribalism, corruption, terrorism, foreign interference, and the erosion of positive cultural values, warning that these issues pose serious threats to Somalia’s unity and long-term stability.

The Prime Minister underscored the growing importance of technology and social media as tools for positive influence, urging young people to leverage digital platforms to spread awareness, promote constructive narratives, and counter harmful content that undermines peace and development.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre reaffirmed that government forces are maintaining overall security in Baidoa, the interim capital of South West State, assuring the public that there will be no retaliation. He stressed that the will of the people will be respected, enabling citizens to democratically elect their regional leadership.

The “Daaci 2026” program reflects ongoing national efforts to engage youth as key drivers of social transformation and nation-building.
