New York, SONNA – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, accompanied by Somalia’s delegation to the United Nations, took part in an international conference in New York dedicated to the recognition of Palestinian statehood and the affirmation of their historic rights.
Somalia reaffirmed its long-standing position of solidarity with the people and government of Palestine, recalling that it was among the first nations to recognize the State of Palestine and has consistently supported efforts toward the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
The Federal Government of Somalia also welcomed and encouraged the historic decisions by countries that have recognized Palestine, stressing that such recognition strengthens regional stability, fosters peace, and upholds the historic rights of the Palestinian people.
