Mogadishu, (SONNA): The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, attended a momentous event to launch the “New Mogadishu” development initiative. This ambitious project includes the construction of a modern airport, a new port, and a key economic zone aimed at transforming the capital.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud praised Somali and foreign businessmen for their pivotal role in the project, which has been meticulously planned over the past five years. He highlighted the significant contributions of Somali businessmen during a time when the country lacked a strong government, providing essential services that were otherwise unavailable.
The “New Mogadishu” project, valued at up to $100 million, is expected to have a profound impact on the country’s economic development. The initiative will feature a state-of-the-art airport and a modern port, forming part of a financial zone designed to attract both international and local investors.
President Hassan Sheikh emphasized that the project aims to benefit the Somali people collectively and will lead to massive job creation for Somali youth.
