Mogadishu (SONNA) — The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud extended congratulations and appreciation to all Somali women wherever they may be on the occasion of International Women’s Day, marked annually on March 8.
President Hassan Sheikh said Somali women are the backbone of social progress and state-building, noting that they play a vital role in the national struggle against Al-Shabaab terrorists and contribute significantly to liberation efforts and reconciliation programs across the country.
The President also highlighted the leading role Somali women play in advancing Somalia’s democratic process, particularly in the implementation of one-person, one-vote elections.
He reaffirmed that the Federal Government of Somalia remains committed to strengthening women’s participation in leadership, politics, and national decision-making.
President Hassan Sheikh concluded by commending Somali women for their resilience, dedication, and the invaluable role they continue to play in the country’s development, wishing them continued progress and success.
