Laascaanood, (SONNA) – The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, alongside SSC-Khaatumo leader Hon. Cabdiqadir Ahmed Aw-Ali (Firdhiye), officially inaugurated the new regional office of the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) in Laascaanood, the administrative capital of SSC-Khaatumo.

The high-level ceremony was attended by Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, Hon. Ali Yussuf Ali (Ali Hosh), Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Amb. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, Deputy Minister of Internal Security, Hon. Sulub Ahmed Firin, and NIRA Director General, Hon. Abdiweli Ali Abdulle (Timacadde).

During the event, Prime Minister Hamza reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to expanding public services and ensuring equitable access to essential government functions across all regions, including SSC-Khaatumo. He underscored the importance of the national ID card system in modernizing and digitizing both public and private services across Somalia.

SSC-Khaatumo leader Firdhiye praised the Federal Government and NIRA for prioritizing the region in this critical phase of institutional development and urged local residents to register and obtain their national identification cards.

As part of the inauguration, NIRA officials demonstrated the registration process by enrolling several prominent traditional elders and community members, including SSC-Khaatumo leadership figures such as Garaad Abdillahi Garaad Saleebaan, Garaad Cabdisalaan Hassan, Sultan Siciid Osman Ali, Garaad Saleebaan Buraale, and other community representatives in attendance.
