PM Hamza Barre: Somalia Must Unite to Eradicate Kharijite Militants

Mogadishu, SONNA – Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has reaffirmed the Somali government’s commitment to eliminating Kharijite militants, emphasizing that Somalia cannot achieve progress while terrorist elements remain in the country.

Speaking at an Iftar gathering attended by Somali alumni who studied in Malaysia, the Prime Minister highlighted the heavy losses inflicted on the militants by the National Army and local forces, describing the fight as an existential battle for Somalia’s future.

“The objective is not just to repel Kharijites, but to wipe them out entirely. Somalia cannot develop as long as they hold even a small portion of our land. It is crucial that we all unite against them,” PM Hamza declared.

The Prime Minister also underscored the spiritual significance of the 27th night of Ramadan, believed by many scholars to be Laylatul Qadr, urging Somalis to forgive one another and pray for peace and stability in the country.

“I call on all Somalis, as individuals and communities, to seek reconciliation, forgive each other, and pray for the well-being of our nation,” he stated.

PM Hamza commended Somali intellectuals for organizing the Iftar event and encouraged them to play an active role in nation-building, peace, and development, aligning with the country’s vision for a stable and prosperous Somalia.
