Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), with support from international partners, carried out a planned security operation in the Qaahira area of Middle Shabelle region, killing up to seven militants affiliated with the Al-Shabaab militant group, officials said.
The operation, conducted late Monday afternoon, also resulted in the destruction of weapons stockpiles and hideouts used by the militants.
The raid follows a separate operation carried out days earlier in the Maxaa Saciid area of the same region, where security forces targeted a meeting of senior militant leaders. That earlier strike reportedly killed at least five commanders and left three others seriously wounded.
NISA once again urged civilians to stay away from locations known to be used by militants, noting that such sites remain legitimate targets for national security forces. The agency also called on the public to share any security-related information concerning Al-Shabaab or ISIS through its hotlines: 199, 0770 747474, or 0620 545454.
