Helsinki(SONNA)-The Somali Ambassador to Sweden, Abdikarim Ahmed Mohamed, has presented his credentials to the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb this week. This significant step has been warmly welcomed by the Somali community, as it is expected to facilitate easier access to various embassy services for Somali citizens.
The arrival of the Somali ambassador in Finland signifies a new era for the Somali community, allowing for smoother interaction with the embassy, thereby removing many previous obstacles faced by Somali nationals. During a well-organized event, President Stubb officially accepted the ambassador’s credentials, marking the first time Somalia has appointed an ambassador to Finland.
The Unity of the Somali Community held a welcome gathering for the ambassador at the Somaliliitto headquarters, where Ambassador Abdikarim addressed community leaders, including cultural elders, youth, academics, and some local council members from Helsinki and Vantaa.
Abdulrahman Rage, the chair of the Unity of the Somali Community, described this appointment as a historic milestone. “The President accepting a Somali ambassador’s credentials is a significant achievement that will finally simplify access to services for Somalis living here,” Rage stated.
Somalis residing in Finland view this appointment as a noteworthy success for the entire Somali community in the country. This development is seen as a new opportunity for strengthening the ties between the two nations and enhancing community cooperation.
